West Coast of Ireland Holiday next Summer

2 families of 4 (4 kids aged 8-15). Probably going to take our cars over on a ferry. Any recommendations for sights we must see/cottages for rent/hotels or b&bs we should stay at please? Going in the kids Summer hols, my mate particularly wants to go to Galway, but I'm open-minded. Thanks.
