The more I hear about Iraq the more I get annoyed. Met a friend of mine today who has served two tours in Iraq. I asked him about the equipment side of the army and he confirmed emphatically our nickname of the Borrowers given by the Yanks. He said if the Americans hadn't been so generous the Brits would have been in deep doodoo. He told me a story where he had to ask the Americans if they could give them 40 forty footer lorries because they had been sent out there without transport. And he was serving in a transport battalion! Over half their rifles didn't work properly either. Blair and co have a lot to answer for.
