Vincent with Ray Winstone

"No surrender to the ITV" as the popular song goes and last night's Vincent is an illustration in point. The phrase "ITV drama" sends shivers down my spine but this was an all-time low; car-crash TV at its very worst. I know they have him on some mega-bucks contract and need him on screen but surely everyone involved in this should hang their heads in shame. I feel like hanging my head in shame and that's just for watching it. As for those responsible for bringing it to the screen, words fail me. I get annoyed at the gawpers in front of me holding up OUR side of the motorway to look at the crash on the OTHER side but Vincent was so bad, you had to keep watching to witness just how bad this thing could get. And it got very, very bad.

 

Having seen Winstone in the fantastic "The Departed", Champions League movie making at its very best, to see him meekly capitulate to non-league minnows last night was very disappointing indeed. Much more of this and Hollywood will soon stop a-knocking.
