how do people clean up when there's a dead body gone rancid ?

A cat had ripped open a black binbag during the night and this morning I had to pick everything up by hand and put it in a new black bin bag. There was a rotten chicken carcass that had been out since last Thursday and the smell made me retch. I was a whisker away from bringing up my breakfast. No dead bodies out there fortunately.
