My only concern last night

I thought that our full backs were under orders to not go over the half way line and Pennant suffered as a result. He's quite a slight fella and he was looking increasingly less likely to get the better of Reiziger. I just think PSV were very well drilled and played well as a team, not allowing players to be left one on one. I think we also suffered because neither of our central midfielders were making runs to drag players out of position and give the wide men more space.

All in all though, a decent performance - clean sheet is most important and PSV were at home!

He suffered from a midfield that couldn't distribute the ball well at all last night. Momo won lots of balls but mostly ones he had given away himself. Give him the ball in the right areas and he is a lot more effective.

I think Pennant had a good first half.

Two things let him down though, he was up against Reiziger who is predominantly right footed, he didnt exploit his weakness by running down the line. Also he lost a lot of posession in the second half, and seemed too light on the ball.

Not a bad Champs league debut though.

He did alright in the first half but went looking for the ball too much in the 2nd half and lost posession too often. He did look a bit tired near the end though and I'm surprised we didn't keep Aurelio on, replace Bellamy with Garcia or Crouch and use Gerrard on the right.

Thought Aurelio suffered with that as well as he had no one to link with. He's not a out and out winger so needs to build combinations to be effective and with Warnock not bombing forward his options were limited.

He doesn't get the ball enough in the game. Goes missing for long periods than the odd flash of speed and skill and then missing again. The long aimless balls from the back aren't much help.

were there 2 versions of the Liverpool-PSV game yesterday?

some people seem to have been watching a completely different game to the one I saw.

Pennant did well when he was given the ball, Kuyt had their defenders on their heels for almost the whole game and Zenden did nothing after his decent first few minutes except for the shot he had.

Pennant was run off the ball three or four times in the second half, but he was waiting for an option that didn't come. It was a consequence of not enough players breaking at pace; the conservative tactics. Often Pennant, Bellamy and Kuyt were left to get on with it, and the central runs of the latter two were easily cut out. The team had orders to conserve energy I think.

It was dissapointing that Gonzalez didn't get more involved when he came on.
