Draconian Laws against Drunkenness and general crime

Anyone that has been to Singapore will tell you it's a fantastic place - very, very clean - no Graffittii - no a******s - just a lovely place to be and live.

Given the massive social problems this country has with people rolling around drunk, fighting and generally acting like a******s spreading graffitii everywhere (No doubt some will laugh at this - but having lived on a f***ing s**** council estate with graffitii everywhere - it's a pretty f***ing depressing place to live) - is it time we just gave up with these namby pamby laws and started to adopt stuff that Singapore has?

- Why waste time and taxpayers money on jail and whatever - if you catch someone doing grafittii - they have to remove it and repair the damage at their own cost - and they also get publically caned - there must be loads of 'smaller offences' that rather than these stupid ABSOs would actually work and over time would instil people that their social behaviour and their, Societies and other peoples property should be respected as should the people that own them.

Would it / could it work in the UK and would it be a good or bad idea - and for what reasons?
