Shin Splints

My expert self prognosis has deemed that I am suffering from shin splints and its starting to piss me off so does anyone have previous and any advice to get rid of the annoying ache in my shins???

 

My local GP is useless and would only tell me to rest and take pain killers so he is a last resort.
