FAO US Reds: update on PPV games or lack thereof this season

Pretty much what I expected, although I do wonder what portion of the matches they have?

I know they won the rights to some of them in the UK, but I think setanta has already had all

the rights to this point and did not have a delivery system.

The 11.99/ Month is certainly a better deal than the 15/match, or 299 I paid for the season pass.

esp considering they aslo had quite a few of the liverpool CL matches last season.

Glad I have directv

Setanta Sports North America has sublicensed US video

rights to selected English Premier League (EPL) matches

each week during the 2006-2007 season

from FOX Sports International (FSI) for broadcast on

the subscription sports channel Setanta Sports USA

(available via DirecTV channel 615 and the GlobeCast satellite TV

platform for $11.99/month.)

As a result, FSI is NOT expected offer any

EPL matches via pay-per-view in the US during the 2006-2007 season.

Setanta also announced that Setanta Sports USA will have

English-language coverage of the French Ligue 1

and the Dutch Eredivisie during the 2006-2007 season, replacing

FOX Soccer Channel and ESPN Deportes as the US TV outlets

for those products.

I am waiting for word back from our Marketing Department who have inquired with iN DEMAND to see if they are going to be offering the package again this coming season. I will post what I find out........

It sucks if you don't have the channel, but as long as I see the games, and at a cheaper price, I'm golden. And I can only imagine FSC and Setanta will both take as long as each other to be able to get HD Games.

Excellent news! $11.99 / mth is a bargain. Really glad I switched to DirecTV. Screw Time Warner! If GolTV keeps showing Liverpool TV too then we're in for a Reds fest next season. Yes!!!

I have Directv and have had Setanta for as long as it has been available. Last season, every CL game was on live (between ESPN2 and Setanta) except for Benfica and that was only a 4 hour delay. Every english club was broadcast live on one of those two channels throughout the group phase. I couldn't find your quote on soccertv but if the implications of it are true that is very exciting. Last season, the weekend's biggest match was frequently on at 11est on PPV through FSC. That quote says that they will not be carrying the PPV matches and that Setanta will have 2 live matches most weekends. If Setanta are picking up the games that were on PPV that is the best lfc news i have had all summer. Each match used to be $20 and if you shell that out 8-10 times a year, that gets pricey. But now the monthly subscriptions which also includes, the CL, the Championship, and int'l friendlies, is less than just one match. Wow. I only hope that FSC isn't also scaling back their regular coverage of the Prem. My favorite KO is the 1245 GMT on saturday and that match has always been shown live on FSC. If they continue to pick up two more saturday games and the early sunday fixture, we will really be in business. Man I can't wait till the new season!

But you know the best part? Setanta usually picks up the UK feed directly and shows the Sky pre-game, half-time, and post-game presentations so we wont have to listen those numpties at FSC.

Have just heard back from iN DEMAND and they will NOT be carrying the EPL Package (as they call it) this season. I'm trying ti get an answer why but more than likely because they have been outbid. Thankfully I have cable and satellite.

this is just great. I am also screwed with satellite because of too many trees in the area.

Wonder if I can convince the wife to move this summer..................

Fox Soccer Channel Makes Changes to EPL Coverage

If you've been reading the EPL Talk Blog the past week, you'll notice that we've been talking a lot about Fox Soccer Channel's impending coverage of the 2006/2007 Premiership season.

We can now confirm that FSC has changed their schedule regarding coverage of matches. Their typical schedule will now be:

Saturdays

10am ET -- Live Premiership match

12:15pm ET -- Live Premiership match

3pm ET -- Tape delayed Premiership match

Sundays

11am ET -- Live Premiership match

Mondays

3pm ET -- Live Premiership match

The 10am ET match on Saturday mornings used to pay-per-view, so that's a huge bonus to be able to watch that match and have it followed by the one at Noon -- for four hours of live Premiership coverage.

Most of us know that the majority of Premiership matches are played at 10am on Saturday, so it'll be interesting to see if FSC shows the results of the matches near the end of the 10am broadcast (except, hopefully, for the 3pm tape-delayed match -- so the pleasure of watching the 3pm isn't ruined).

The other benefit is being able to see the Sunday match live at 11am ET rather than the tape delayed time of 1pm ET. Bravo to FSC!

Remember where you read it first! More details to come about the 7:45am Saturday matches, the 8:30am Sunday matches and the midweek games.
