Travelling from Leeds - Advice needed

I live in Leeds and I've just been informed that my brother has managed to get me a ticket for Saturday but it's too late to get Friday off work so I'm planning to get train to Cardiff on Saturday morning.

 

There is a train at 8.10 which is due into Cardiff at 12.20 and another at 9.10 which gets in at 1.23 so that should be OK.

 

But it's the getting back that looks difficult.

 

Some friends who went to Carling Cup by train last year said that it took hours to get into station after the game.

 

Can anyone tell me how long after game it takes to get into station?

They have different queues, one for London trains, one for Liverpool trains and one for trains to the Midlands. The first two will be busy for obvious reasons the other not so much or at least it was a lot quieter last year.

Thanks for the info.

 

There's a train from Cardiff changing at Burton at 6.47 and even if we need extra time there's another at 8.00 changing at Birmingham.

 

So, City Arms here I come.

If you're lucky you'll get on the 8.00 I'd say.
