  1. Or that they charge 50p per ticket, even if you pay by debit card and not credit card.
  2. And to kiss the badge the way he did in Istanbul when he knew at that stage that he was definitely leaving. Class act.
  3. Cheers Spike Starski, Must admit to being disappointed as to the take up on this thread: perhaps if I'd said that a mate of a mate of the milkman who delivers two full fat amd a semi skimmed to Defoe's house had been told to cancel, then it would have run and run for 20 pages. However, it was only about having a go back at that twot MacKenzie. So apparently nobody is arsed.
  4. Cheers Cobs. I am still awaiting a reply from the Newsnight staff as to the selection criteria, and whether or not another entry can be allowed even at this stage if there is the popular demand, but somehow I don't think that I'll hold my breath on that one..
  5. Viewers of the BBC2 Newsnight programme will be aware that they are currently running a vote as to the most memorable newspaper front page headlines. Last night, viewers had to suffer that walking ego that is Kelvin MacKenzie talking at length and with pride about the three entries from that rag that feature in the poll (Freddie Starr Ate My Hamster; Gotcha! & Up Yours Delors!). Somewhat curiously, 'The Truth' did not feature. Nor does it feature in the list of 11 headlines from which the winner is voted by the public. Now I know that we have a huge emotional interest in this subject, but surely objectively as it is recognised as the greatest ever media mistake in terms of lost revenue alone, and is still subject to huge boycott 17 years on, 'The Truth' should feature in the gallery of the top headlines chosen, from which the viewers can choose the winner. So, as we've not been allowed to vote for 'The Truth', I've enclosed a link to the Newsnight site, so anybody who wishes to can at least ask for an explanation as to why this headline was so conveniently ignored. 7. Are we now witnessing the beginnings of an 'ultrafication' in Liverpool's support?? i.e. more organised groups (Irregulars,Urchins,Huyton Fatties) with their own banners etc? Obviously, in keeping with the Boss Wednesday agreement/KFS Initiative, only Scouse Ultra groupings will be recognised and allotted 'banner space'!! For what it's worth, that new Irregulars banner didn't cost a penny, as the lad who had it made, who is originally from Germany but lives over here and has a Jan Molby-esque Scouse accent, has a mate who is a printer, who did it for nothing!!
  8. Little baby Changs as well - I know that they are cute when you see them on the Tele with David Attenborough, but the fact that they are linked to the Blues***e means we shouldn't contribute towards their fight against extinction.
  9. ...was between Liverpool fans!?! Upstairs at Sam Platts, which I was told was to do with the singing/barracking of the 'Munich' song. Either way, did any body else hear 'If you don't sing Munich, you're a c**t' being sung by a large group of older heads, just outside Sam Platts by the tent? I think there is now an issue with the predominantly younger Bucks, who are quite prepared to run with the Munich songs, and those who boo them, and I am sure will lead to further in-house fighting. I know others have reported where the singing of Munich has led to heated arguments, but I've never seen it spill over into violence before. Pretty sad really.
  10. Fair enough, is it because they are all under the News International umbrella that Sky quotes that rag then?
  11. On the Sky Sports web page, they are quoting Pepe Reina having a go at Robben over his theatricals at Stamford Bridge. They also write his quotes as having been told by Reina to The S*n. Now, is it the case that Reina has passed his quotes to all and sundry, and that Sky have for whatever reason just chosen to quote that newspaper as their source, or has Reina indeed only spoken to that rag? If it is the latter, do the club not at the very least have a word with players about local sensitivities? (Apologies for those expecting one of those 'clicky' links, but I have turned 40 and all this hi-tec computer nonsense is beyond me. I've tried writing in 'click', but sadly nothing happens!)
  12. I think that where Plod have got it wrong this time is that they're working on the basis that Liverpool will bevvy at home & then travel over last minute, which is pretty much the case when there's 3,000 of us pitted against 64,000 Mancs. But when there's 30,000 and it's Semi-Final day, it's a different matter. Loads are travelling over earlier because they don't want to get caught up in gridlock on Trafford Road/want a pint/want to strut around the ground without getting legged everywhere. Think it's all going to get a bit messy.
  13. Think that the ale houses on the Ordsall would render that one from Shameless a veritable cafe-bistro! Don't see how 30,000 thirsty Scousers are going to fit into Sam Platts though.
  14. Forgot to say that, just as the Wetherspoons Manager was initially telling me that although they had been designated a Chelsea pub, that he didn't know how strongly it was going to be enforced, his assistant manager told him that the Police had phoned this afternoon to inform them that it was to be strictly segregated- i.e. no Liverpool fans to be allowed in at all. She wasn't messing/on a wind up either.
  15. The Wetherspoons (Bishops Blaizer, or similar) on Chester Road is a designated Chelsea pub, and having spoken to the manager today, he said that the LFC pubs were on Trafford Road, or on 'the other side of the ground', which I thought was the industrial estate, and he too wasn't able to name any pubs on that side. Although you can see the logic in what the Plod have done, i.e. keep the route from the South/M56 for Chelsea, and give us the M62 side, it must be said that there is a dearth of ale houses on our 'side' of OT. Don't particularly fancy having a (very quick) pint in the middle of the Ordsall Estate!! The problem now of course is that because there aren't enough pubs to cope with the Liverpool support, fans will wander in search of ale. Should be interesting. Curry in Rusholme anybody?
  16. Obliged.
  17. So is Pennant a fallback option, if it doesn't work out with SWP? I remember Elisha a short while back saying that he was, after consultation, confident of Pennant being a Red by August, or words to that effect. Or is it the Summer of signing wingers?
  18. Whilst I acknowledge that there is no easy and fair way of distributing tickets for games when you are in Liverpool's situation of always having more people wanting to go than there are tickets available, I do find it both odd and annoying that they base ticket distribution on your loyalty within each competition. Is there any person here who has ever responded to the question:'Are you a Liverpool fan?' with the reply:'Oh, in the League and European games definitely, FA Cup a bit less so, but I'm a lightweight when it comes to the Carling Cup'. And yet, this in essence is what the club does as regards ticket distribution.
  19. Re. Manu Petit: He does know his brother-in-law is playing in France these days, doesn't he? Or is it a la 'The Full Monty', with Bruno just setting off for work every day?
  20. Who, Taggy or the banner?
  21. Apparently a couple of deaf, blind and mute Mancs are at this very moment filing a complaint with the Manc police that the aforementioned b0ll0ckings directed by Kronenkramps towards Cisse were of a racial nature. Await the David Maddock exclusive in The Mirror...
  22. Koomkramp definitely MOM in my humble opinion. Anyone else notice at least the two b0ll0ckings he directed at Cisse for lack of movement/making the wrong run. A sign of his growing confidence?
  23. To clarity the point about the Police escort, the ambulance was waiting for a while for the Police before being told to go without any escort. As far as I can gather, the Police initially promised/the usual practice is for an escort, before they then backtracked, with no actual reason/explanation being given. It would indeed be ironic if the Police felt unable to provide an escort for Smith because they were dealing with the Manc element who attempted to break their way out of Anfield (one aspect of Saturday which appears to have gone unmentioned in the Press - quelle surprise. When was the last time you saw numerous Police Officers, batons drawn, inside Anfield?). To be fair to the Bizzies though, if you had to deploy a limited number of Officers quickly, you would probably odds that letting the ambulance go was an obvious way of leaving you with more to deal with what was clearly going to be a serious Public Order situation around Anfield. Hindsight is a wonderful thing, and I don't believe anybody would have foreseen an ambulance getting attacked.
  24. Where would the ambulance be going such that it would go past the King Harry and then the Royal Oak? Doesn't make sense, does it?
  25. Alas, this whole story is true (Source = Cousin's wifes Dad, who is a paramedic and was on duty at the match. His mate drove the ambulance). The ironic thing is that the Police wouldn't provide an escort for the ambulance because of the big mob waiting for the Mancs at The King Harry, and it was part of this mob who did the ambulance. The ambulance is that badly wrecked it's off the road now. Took us back to the 1980s in so many ways, I think, last Saturday.
