  4. Really? Hadn't picked that up from any of the previous 74 posts that said exactly the same thing, at the same time taking no notice of the many suggestions as to how he'll fit into the side. So, in light of the fact that discussing on here is not going to change your mind........ Now then, how's about you pop these negative thoughts into a bottle, screw the top on nice and tight, and put the bottle out of sight somewhere, to be opened again at Christmas - there's a good chap. IMO you'll be hunting out that f***ing bottle and smashing the thing over your pc well before christmas.
  5. Don't care where he works, just wish he'd stop printing the s*** he's fed on a regular basis. I imagine he knows full well he's spouting s*** at the request of some agent contact or other, but he does it anyway to fill pages, like at least 99% of footie journos. My only issue is that you and a very small band of loyal followers (think there's 2 or maybe 3 of you in this thread?) seem to think he knows more than other's, and I have seen absolutely no evidence of that whatsoever. he gets stick justifiably for printing nonsense, and for not getting the exclusives you'd think he would, given your belief he knows more about LFC than other journo's - the facts don't back you up.
  6. All well and good, but you haven't factored in what would have happened if we hadn't signed him ? his place would have been filled by another signing (unknown, but certainly not lower cost/unknown but likely similar wages). That player could have been just as likely to not impress. Given those factors, selling him for 3 million would certainly mean a profit. The only thing you can take off that, is if he received a significant higher signing on fee than normal. In short, you cant use wages when considering profit/loss, that's something the club must budget annually for, and I'm sure voronins wages came within the agreed overal budget.

  8. which if we're being honest is another thing that needs sorting
  9. nah bascombe broke that story on August 3rd 2008. I really hope not by the way, I'd like to thnk Keane would be grabbing the No7 out of Rafa's hands, regardless of any "poisoned chalice" comments that have been knocking around.
  10. DH has had it "fixed" to ensure Bascombe receives the credit. Far, far more likely that bascombe, desperate for a story for his sunday comic, used ES's thinly veiled reference to us signing keane BACK IN MAY, to beef up his JUNE article.
  11. Disagree with that, I think Rafa has been searching for a replacement since he took over. Whether they have all turned out to be not good enough, or Finnan has seen 'em all off, who knows...bit of both probably.

  14. I find it amusing the way Spurs continue to court the "fantasy" players. If they get Arshavin, the knives will be out for him before Christmas. Not at all convinced that Dos Santos or Modric will show much beyond October either. Keane is a far better signing, with his welath of experience playing succesfully against the defences we're going to face week in week out. Those 3 players above are just this season's popular picks, they'll likely start the season well, and fade quickly. If Chelsea start the season with deco having replaced lampard in the side, I will also be delighted.
  15. think he would be ideal as the centre of the 3 in a 4-2-3-1 or 4-1-3-2, but also as a No7 off Torres. I must admit though, in this 4-4-2 scenario I do wonder who the wide men would be in the 4, as none of those we have seem perect for the role of wide mid in a standard 4-4-2. That's why I mention 4-1-3-2. Can see masch sitting deep, with a 3 of barry/gerrard/kuytorbabel ahead of him, and then Keane/Torres. Width coming from fullback's. then again, we saw 3 CB's against tranmere.......in short, who knows.
  16. The only thing that can be said in the lad's favour, is that he's far from the first to mention it in this thread. I'm beginning to think they know something we don't, a modern twist on opportunity cost
  17. Everyone's entitled to an opinion mate, but you just cannot say that about any player. I don't care how proven he is (and I wouldn't even say Silva is proven to be honest), there are far too many variables when changing form Spain/Italy/France etc to England. You can't ignore it, there is always a risk when paying big money to bring in a player form overseas. Silva may well be good enough, but you just can't say it 100%. Far too many examples of players with better CV's than him not making the adjustment.

  24. hammill's gone to blackpool for 6 months, anderson to forest for the season. nemeth....somewhere else but not available.
  25. but noone believes the schite printed in that comic book anyway, so your hardly putting your reputation on the line by printing it. It's time like this I miss the norwegian, would love to see some stats on what percentage of "transfer stories" in the NOTW actually turn out to be true. He writes for a paper which blatantly prints speculation (most of which is made up). he no longer has any reputation, if indeed he ever had one.
