Gerrard receives top PFA honour It is the first time Gerrard has won the prestigous award Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has claimed the Professional Footballers' Association Player of the Year award. Gerrard won the Young Player of the Year award in 2001 and that went to Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney for the second year in a row. The awards are voted for by Gerrard's fellow footballers and he said: "I am still in shock to be honest. "To go through to another FA Cup final and win this special award is fantastic for me." Gerrard beat off strong competition from Arsenal striker Thierry Henry, Chelsea trio Joe Cole, Frank Lampard and John Terry, who won last year, and Rooney.

There was one against the mancs at OT last season which was really close.

Scored from inside our half after the whistle had been blown for a foul by Crouch in the 2nd half. I don't think he did it to waste time because he seemed to hit it as soon as the whistle blew. Martyn was just inside their penalty and box and he had no chance of getting it.
