So, just to recap on the Wenger debate, has, or is this kid signing? For what it's worth - I'm a huge fan of AW, he has access to the same players as every other team, but he seems to pull out more than his fair share of quality "baybeys (o'dreary accent required)". Some he get's wrong, f*** me, law of averages. Nobodies perfect. Even if you question his ability to bring the kids through (which I would find laughable), you can't question both his and his scouting network's ability to spot a player. Our great Bob Paisley would be full of admiration for AW. Something I think you should consider. Culture has changed for the worst, but in todays world, do you not think Bill would be on the TV moaning against every bad decision? watching his watch? etc. You know he would try every trick in the book, just as he did back then. Societies rules change, and become more lenient over time. The charachter and make up of a man, is genetic, ingrained. Bill didn't choose to belittle the opposition etc, everything he did, the famous soundbytes, the psychology of football, he did it naturally. I respect anyones right to an opinion, but anyone who can question AW's ability or player judement is way off the mark in this instance. Look at the ManUSA juggernaut he took on back then, on a relative shoestring in commparison with the SCUM, something you laud benitez for during his time at valencia. Please, seriously now......... You may not like the man personally (it's irrelevant. I do, solely for his "every man like to think he has the prettiest wife at home" comment to fergie. And for the footie his team tries to play, and often do), but don't question his record. If AW had been her for 10 years and achieved what he had in similar circumstances, we'd be delighted at his record of bring players through, especially when considering the free young players to emerge during that time. Open your eyes, If we'd appointed him that year, we would have won a hell of a lot more than the a*** have The Kid? Is he signing?
  3. I personally think will bring the Daniel Alves situation to a head, and I think Rafa knows it. He is showing Del Nido there is a geunuine option to Alves, I also think the magic 10million figure is also an indication. He's saying "I've proved we have another possibilty for the money I told you we could afford. It's time to stop f***ing around DN and hand over the boy. I'm the f***ing Rafatollah and the streets will flow with the blood of the non-believers. Now, 10 million as I'm f***ing sick of telling you or you can kiss my watch-buying ass?" Ok, I'm paraphrasing. The point remains a valid one, however much foliage got in the way I would be very surprised if by Sunday we either have Daniel flying over, or a public statement from the lad issuing he's staying at Sevilla, but will look at options should another really big club in for him. I also think DD would both join us and offer something else. Don't forget at Chelsea the wingers switch often, so he plays both left and right side, and would do the same for us. Either way, I believe we will add an extra dimension to the team by next week. All that remains is a convincing CL first leg display to enable the purchasing of a striker. Heaven knows who, but at the moment we have a 1/3 or 1/4 chance of guessing. Who'd bet against a surprise? He may even decide that alves as a right back would then be an option he could consider, moving HK inside to play as a supporting striker, something he's used many times before. All if's, but's and maybe's, I know but we're all 2nd guessing at the moment and that's my take on it. One thing I'm sure of though, DD/DA, CB, GOD, Agger and Palletta settling in, would mean I was a hell of a lot more confident going into this season than last. I still think there's one more biggy to come after CL qualification. Thank you please
  4. you could have just left this topic at the title

  6. ..................... And therin lies the problem
  7. I think an important factor could be the new CL ruling on homegrown players. I think within 3 years, a minimum of 8 out of the 25 players allowed to register for CL (not including under 19's I think??), have to be English, and 4 of those brought up through the Liverpool system. I'm not suggesting for 1 second that should be the deciding factor in the whole saga, but a player that I believe (but respect the views of those that don't. As for me on the whole issue? I'm pretty much 55/55 (using the football cliche system to work out the percentages). Doesn't sit comfortably the way he treated us, but I was dissapointed when the Newcastle deal was announced, but would hypocritically look forward to seeing him score goals for us if it was announced he'd signed, if for no other reason than 15 extra league goals would help us out immensely. Sorry for the brackets faux pas, but f*** it, can't be arsed to re-structure the post, and why should I? Now..........), would give the rest of his days to Liverpool as he's got the abroad thing out of his head. How many of those amongst us (i'm not a middlesborough Evangelist despite how this sentenced has started - f***, the brackets are forcing this into a paragraph faux pas too!!) have never lusted after the really fit girl despite being happy with the lady on our arms? (or any other protusion). Anyway, apologies for the middle paragraph / bracket escapade but the original point was valid. The rest? Just a foliage induced meander through my old (and fit) English teachers worst nightmares aaaahhh, good old Mr Davies Joke, dudes
