  1. That's what I'm lobbying for, even though I still have doubts over Silva
  2. This is my point above, Barry and Tevez give us more strength in depth but we still need that first choice spark for the left. TBH I'm not sure Silva is it, ( tend to prefer Lavezzi myself) but Reira isn't it. The only way we can do this is by getting favorable payment terms for Tevez say 8m per season + Wages. That would allow us to spend the bulk of our transfer money on Silva.
  3. indeed, but we're in danger of missing the point, which is that we need to improve in creativity against park the bus teams more than we need depth of squad ( which is also needed). Tevez does not give me the impression he'd be a left sided Messi ( for lack of a better description), he would offer what Dirk does, which is good but we need that spark against teams that want to defend the entire game. I don't think Tevez can do that from the left position. Tevez would be best as a link striker either in 4231 or 442. So getting Tevez also means we need to get an attacking left sided player.... unless we keep Babel
  4. would be be good enough on the left? I know Maradonna is thinking of playing him there for Argentina and that could persuade him to play there for us. But would he be better than Lavezzi there or Silva ?
  5. well if a different club could get him cheaper all the mancs would have to do is offer $1.00 UKP more, and get him cheaper than their agreed deal. So I suspect any club wanting Tevez would have to match the deal agreed with the mancs but MAY get more favorable payment terms
  6. Thing is we cant sign him for less than the deal agreed with Man U - the best we could hope for are more favorable payment terms
  7. OMG it's last summer #2
  8. Given Rafa's transfer budget it's almost impossible for him to better the team, the fact that he might say's it all really. We need a striker a LW a CM and a RB that are up to standard that's 70m and Rafa somehow has to do that for 30m ..... given the shortfall in cash Rafa has to take a lot of gambles and that can mean at worst we dont improve for several seasons. At best it means silverware .... Rafa has an even tougher job now as expectations are so high
  9. That's the big problem ! and I don't see 4321 as our formation
  10. He has a valid reason to be at Anfield; Masherano. Interestingly this summer looks like it's going to be a repeat of last summer: Barry in Tevez instead of Keane That means Rafa must have a plan other than using Tevez as an alternative to Torres and/or Gerrard... surely? It seems we're also looking to spend on the left - Silva, Lavezzi, Suares, with Silva looking more likely now Juve have Diego That's 50m; where's the money going to come from ??
  11. Is that down to the staff or to the fact they don't have stupid government agencies denying them work permits for promising youngsters ?
  12. Interesting; which is better the Barca youth system or the Ajax youth system?
  13. whilst technically true, I doubt Henry would be a success on the left here, as Rafa expects a lot more defensive work here than Barca do
  14. make them pay !!!
  15. if they get him I want them to pay full whack
  16. Not saying I want Tevez. But if he wants to play regularly he has to leave Man U - He's clearly cover and not a first choice
  17. Yup - man u are looking to see if they can get Tevez on a free like a Bosman ... should be interesting
  18. the actions are not connected
  19. why would Forlan make it for us when he failed with Man U ? Where would he play ?
  20. more Hi Ho Silva
  21. This is a tough league, is Silva a sick note now ? he's been out half a season
  22. Further to my previous post Benitez spoke with representatives of his former employers in January about Silva’s availability and it is believed a fee in the region of £15 million was provisionally agreed before one Valencia director went public about the deal in an attempt to smoke out interest from Chelsea, Inter Milan and Barcelona. The Liverpool manager immediately withdrew his offer, privately admitting the Anfield side cannot compete financially with Europe’s footballing gentry, and has since insisted in public that he is examining other targets. Liverpool deal for David Silva collapsed due to Valencia leak . But it is believed he will return once more for the Spanish international, who has a close relationship with Benitez’s chief scout, Eduardo Macia, with a take-it-or-leave-it offer dependent on Valencia not inviting Silva’s other suitors to better it so as to ease the financial crisis engulfing the club http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/...-Liverpool.html
  23. A straight 15m isn't going to get Silva 1- Either this story is poo, 2- or Rafa's knows Silva wants to come here and is forcing their hand 3- or Rafa's using it to divert attention from his main target/s 4- or Valencia want an auction 4 options as I see it, it's not clear which is most likely right now I'd go for 1 and 4
  24. so he can't play left well enough, he'd be an alternative to Gerrard, could he be an alternative to Torres too ?
  25. If I were Valencia that would make me play better
