  1. That's a bit harsh. In the first half, Lucas forced a few Blackpool mistakes by pressing high up the pitch. Meireles got into some good positions, offering Torres support, and even Poulsen (slow as he is) actually got some tackles in. They tired in the 2nd half (especially Lucas), but 2 of the 3 played on Sunday against United with 10 men. Sure, they didn't dominate like Alonso-Masch-Gerrard, but they didn't get over-run like we were in the away matches under Hodgson. Restoring confidence and teamwork takes time, and I've seen enough to be cautiously optimistic.
  2. I watched it on a dodgy stream, but to be fair, I thought the team played decently up until the last 10 minutes. Pros: 1. The midfield three of Lucas, Meireles & Poulsen competed well in the middle of the park. 2. Torres, Jova & Kuyt pressed high up the pitch and forced Blackpool into losing possession. 3. I thought Lucas, especially in the first-half, got into some great positions because of this hard work, but failed to make the most of the situation. 4. Torres looked much sharper tonight, even though he faded away towards the end. The goal will boost his confidence. Cons: 1. Both goals were soft, and caused by individual errors. Meireles' poor pass and Agger's non-'tackle' led to the first, and Johnson's loss of concentration and poor positioning caused the second. 2. Johnson had a nightmare of a game - he is not a left-back. Defensively, he got caught out of position too often, and going forward, he didn't have the confidence in his left-peg to go outside. By playing him at LB, he is effectiveness is halved. 3. The lack of confidence and self-belief was evident. Heads dropped after the 2nd goal, and the play became rushed. In the last 10 minutes (after Ngog came on), we went back to hoof-ball, creating not a single chance. Credit to Blackpool - they conceded the early goal, but stuck to their game plan and earned the 2-1 win. But overall, I thought we played well - much better than any other away games in the League (Bolton included). Yes we lost, but I saw enough to be optimistic that results will improve in the next 3-4 games. In Kenny We Trust!
  3. SOS/ShareLiverpool to own a significant stake in the Club, enough to influence key decisions like the building of a new stadium, appointment of a new manager etc. Chief Executives who stick to generating commercial revenue, and giving the Manager money. A Manager who is also a Leader, one who builds for the future, who invests time and money in the Academy, and takes pride in the Club. Some knowledge of effective, modern football tactics would help too....
  4. Poor performance except for 15 minutes in the 2nd half. The Mancs deserved to win by a bigger margin. Roy, however nice a chap he is, is clearly out of his depth. Sitting back, passing sideways with no forward movement; not pressing the opposition, making poor substitutions. But I guess that's what we are right now, a mid-table team led by a mediocre manager. This won't change until the 2 tumours are out.
  5. Surprised we held out this long. What is the point of keeping possession when all we do is go backwards? And has Poulsen even made a tackle?

  7. This is what you get when a talented squad plays together for several championships. Apparently, this is the same group of players that won Argentina the World Under-17s, Under-21s and the Olympics. And they were all coached by Pekerman. The understanding and teamwork were clearly evident in their passing and off-the-ball movement. I'm off to the bookies. Argentina for the World Cup!
