Our Premiership season so far

Last season we got 58 points. With 12 games still left to play we have 51 points.

A massive improvement on last season and we are on course to have our highest total since 2001/02 when we finished 2nd with 80 points.

Rafa wanted Gonzalez for this season, one can only wonder how we would have faired with him in the side.

With Paletta on the books for next season along with Gonzalez and hopefully a couple of more signings, I am starting to get excited about 2006/07 already :)

We're actually currently 2 points better off than we were at the same stage of the 2001-2002 season, when we finished second. That season, we won 10, drew 1 and lost 1 of our last 12 games. A repeat would be nice!...

I'd be extatic if Rafa would add SWP and Owen to the current crop!

I think it would be a very tall order to match that run in.

i think we are a legitimate finisher and exceptional right winger away from really knocking on Chelsea's door next season. Moro, Cisse, Crouch really aren't cutting it in the finishing department and Gerrard needs to get off RW even though he is playing well there... with Gonzalez arriving in the summer, is Rafa planning on shifting Kewell up front or on the right? He surely can't keep him on the bench with his consistent play spanning a long run of games now

as far as i am concerned, we played our better games with both xabi, momo & stevie on the pitch: xabi directs the tempo of our play, momo does all the dirty works, stevie puts in some decent crosses, runs into the box and dives the team forward. all three are inreplacable and their abilities compliment each others' strengths and weaknesses.

and if we are going to play with two upfront and a back 4, that means we need to play a 4-men midfield. there will be only one space left for a winger...

that said, actually i am quite looking forward to the new team with a genuine right winger as we can then have more possibilites and try different formations. it would be so very nice if we could rest some of our key players like xabi and stevie next season :)
