In '65 after we'd won the Cup for the 1st time, Shanks famously sent Gerry Byrne & Gordon Milne out onto the pitch with the Cup to parade it. The crowd went mental & Inter shat it...

 

Should we send a couple of the young 'uns who participated in the run last season to go out onto the pitch with old Big Ears 5 mins before the players come out in the FAC game against the Mancs? Fowler even?

 

Cheesy? Shanks didn't think so. It is affording them a level of respect they don't deserve though; although their fans may appreciate being able to see the Cup they won & we got to keep.

Shanks was king of Psychology before that drunk even heard of the term - but he managed to do it without verbally abusing other teams players, managers, the official or the FA. I think it's called 'class'.
