It's a class show. I haven't missed an episode yet and generally, I really hate network sitcoms.

 

There are tons of great characters in it and it is a really great premise for the show. I kind of like what a sc*mbag Earl was earlier though before he changed his ways.

I watched both Mallrats and Clerks at the weekend. Great films. There is another which I saw years ago and I want to add to my collection but I can't remember what you call it - I thought it was by Kevin Smith.

 

The general jist is a bunch of teenagers working in a music store. They catch a young lad shoplifting and the whole movie is set in the store as far as I remember. If it isn't by Kevin Smith is is very like his work. The dialogue, the cheap budget, no obvious superstars etc. Any ideas - sorry it's so vague. I actually bought Mallrats thinking that was it but obviously it wasn't - doh!

 

Oops sorry, to keep this relevant to the thread. I have taped My Name is Earl and plan to watch it tonight. I wasn't sure what to expect but after reading all your comments I can't wait.

Just watched the first four episodes of this last night. Absolutely brilliant! The casting is spot on, especially Ethan Suplee who is hilarious as Earl's brother Randy.

 

Definately top class.

I've only seen a few cause it's been on on a friday when im out, but it's usually been pretty good. A lot of episodes aren't that funny, but each one seems to have one or two hilarious parts which makes it great. Like when that guy burnt his golf clubs, then it turned into a burning swasitka or when Earl went to apologise to that bird with no legs, but she had a new hubby who had no legs and he chased earl down the street on these metal stilt things and beat him up with a for sale sign. Quality.

Is starts really well but tails off. the supporting cast isn't great (except his wife who's brilliant). Jason Lee is good though and always makes it watchable
