Holiday in Tenerife H10 hotels

Hi just wondering if anyone has been on holiday to either playa de las americas and/or Puerto de la cruz have found holidays staying in both in early july and was wondering if its worth the extra £100 or so to stay in playa de las americas. Neither of us are into clubbing but still want plenty to do ie water sports shops resturants and bars.
