The ghost town that is Venice

[Metro]

Visited Venice while on a cruise in September. Many houses were empty behind the Grand Canal presumably because the ground floors keep flooding but the wife and I managed to find the only gondolier who couldn't get under a bridge. While he was attempting to do this, his colleagues were rolling around in merriment and finally, after seeing the queue behind him, he gave up and retraced his steps. Then he punted with one hand and used his mobile with the other. It was then that he collided with a house. And I couldn't even get a Cornetto. Jeez.
