Now I know it's only a demonstration and not supposed to have a real effect on emissions anyway but I just fail to see the point.

What kind of message am I supposed to send to people in power with this?

 

If for instance all cars and trucks running on fossil fuel would come to a halt for an hour it would make a lot more sense to me.

 

And when businesses join in and flick off their light-switches when their operations otherwise contribute substantially to global warming, well then it's just hypocritical.
