This is a question for those in the know on the old Stereophonic/Amp and suchlike devices.

I have at home a Karaoke System. This system has radio-mike input (Which is hardwired to the Mic in port) - out of the back of the Karaoke system - there is a simple composite out (no sound) to the telly. It has a couple of normal (one black, one red) stereo-out leads which go into a my new piece of kit - a 6 way speaker surround system - with Amp and Sub woofer and midrange woofer.

When I plug it into a normal Stereo system. No problems. It's fine. Happy days. Sound comes from the Karaoke disk and the sound also comes out from the Mic. It's all fine.

The problem is this.

When I plug it into the amp and it comes out of the 6 speakers - the Karaoke disk sound comes out - then there is a very slight delay and the Mic comes out with a slight echo - which makes the whole thing sound horrendous.

I have no idea why it does this - I've tried replugging it into the stereo again and the Mics are fine. Then swapped it straight away and I get the delay and echo once again.

I've tried every setting from the Karaoke machine and also on the new sound system thingy and can't sort it out.

Any help from anyone who knows how the hell these things work would be much appreciated. I'm usually OK with this kind of stuff (Not an expert, but always manage to get things set up fairly well) - but I'm utterly stumped with this. It doesn't make any sense to me at all.
