A scenario for the next four months...

There is no doubt in my mind, with the default rate and the meltdown in the credit markets, that we will be sold. Take it to the bank. H&G are in rough shape and they will not be able to refinance the loan. That reality will set in some time this Autumn. The Dubai people will swoop in and make a deal and take over the club in its entirety.

The stadium design isn't half bad to be honest. The original version, not value engineered. Given the Dubai propensity for dramatic architecture, I think we could see and expandable, dramatic stadium similar to what our current design is, get underway pretty quickly after the deal is struck.

They'll take over in the middle of us having our best run at the Championship in years. I based on the games up to Christmas I could see us winning:

Stoke (h), Everton (a), Man City (a), Wigan (h), Portsmouth (h), West Brom (h), Bolton (a), Fulham (h), West Ham (h), Blackburn (a), Hull (h).

I could see us drawing:

Spurs (a)

I could see us losing:

Chelsea (a), Arsenal (a)

The bottom line is I really can forsee us having the best record by Christmas that we've had in years.

That being the case, the new owners will want to splash a bit of money in Jnuary to insure that we run away with the Championship, and we will!! I just have a feeling that this is our year. So, who would you get to take us over the top?

You know, I could see us going back for Barry. Other than that, everything else would be a luxury unless we have injuries. Let's face it, a really great understudy to Torres would be ideal. Babel could do it for us, but a solid player up front would be so useful. I used to think that we needed someone on the right, but Babel can play on the right with Riera/Barry on the left. The answer? Villa. We're flush with cash. We insure winning. We buy Barry and Villa.

I think we will win it this year. Soory, I hope we don't jinx us, but I have this feeling...

We won't even qualify for the Champions League now!

It's still a long way to go, we need to beat Stoke next week otherwise yesterday would have counted for nothing

A myth - winning yesterday will mean a lot more than whatever happens against Stoke next Saturday.

It has taken points off those you are in direct competition with, something we haven't been doing for at least a decade.

I agree that everything points to the having to sell but I doubt they'll go down w/o trying every last trick to long it out

Yes, but to be one of those team in direct competition with the Man Utds of this world, then we simply cannot be following up a great win by dropping points to Stoke.

We do that, and the players will feel in their own minds that beating United was just a one-off kind of result, like when average teams such as West Ham occasionally beat the Mancs.

The result yesterday will gain in signifcance if we can follow it up with a string of wins, that keeps us at the top. If that happens, we will increasingly look back at the Man. Utd game as the one in which we truly 'laid down a marker'. It's pyschological value will increase in this scenario.
