2.30 Queen Anne Stakes

A puzzler to start off proceedings.

Haradasun is the Coolmore horse purchased from Australia who ran too freely on his European debut and finished 3 lengths behind Creachadoir. He wouldn't have appreciated the slow pace that day and should do much better this time.

On the other hand, Tariq qwould have liked the slow pace and it allowed him to use his turn of foot and get to within a length of the winner ( who was Dettori's NAP of the meeting until he tipped it and it broke down, never to race again. Does he like cats, too ? ) Over a stiff mile i'm not sure Tariq will get home and i can't back him at 5-1.

The each way bet of the race has to be Sageburg, who can emulate 2005 winner Valixir and win this after winning the Prix D'Ispahan at Longchamps. Should love the course and ground

Titbit - only one fav winner in the past 10 runnings, only one placed filly / mare since 1990.

King's Stand 3.05

CHAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRGGGEEE !!!!!!!!

All eyes will be on Fleeting Spirit, who will start a short price as many people's banker of the day. To have a banker in this race is odd. To have one who's a 3 year old drawn low is even odder. That said, she could just be the next sprint champion and she's better than Dandy Man, who ran well here from a low draw

She may well win but i'll be backing Kingsgaite Native who ran within half a length of the fav last year, is four times the value and has very good course form.

St James Palace Stakes

HTN. No, not forum lore but the hot fav for this headlining race. Henrythenavigator has been described as ' bomb proof ' by one of the biggest betters around and it looks that way. The only horse with an apparent chance of beating him is French Guineas winner Falco. He beat a good field at Longchamps by 3 lengths but was give a very canny ride - kicking on of a hot pace round the bend, the rest of the field were left treading water as they jockeyed for positions and it could be that the winner was flattered by the winning margin.

I just can't see HTN being beaten.

Coventry Stakes 4.20

I usually do quite well in this, having tipped 3 winners and a 2nd in the last 5 runnings.

Orizaba was a very easy winner for Mick Channon a few weeks ago, hammering his rivals by 9 lengths, and has since been bought by Godolphin ( at least somebody is selling to them...)

Himalaya won well at Doncaster and has been tipped as ' exceptional ' by his trainer Jeremy Noseda but looked a little quirky with it.

Peter Tsaichovsky represents last years winning stable Coolmore and will have had to have come on a ton from his debut win in Ireland to give them another win - but they are the best.

The horse i like is Lord Shanakill who practically pissed all over his rivals at York and the runner-up has since come out and won. 14-1 looks excellent value for a horse sired by 2004 Breeders Cup Sprint winner Speightstown. The quick ground will suit and i'm expecting a big run.

Ascot Stakes 4.55

I like Liberate ( nap ) in this. A talented flat horse who was sent jumping early in his career, he's well handicapped and could have a few pounds in hand. Trip, ground and course are ideal, trainer is in form and Spencer rides winners for them. Som Tala should run well and Baddam, who ran in last years Ascot Gold Cup after winning this in 2006, has dropped in the weights and could be ready for a big run. There are a few unexposed horses in the race and several have a chance but Liberate has been laid out for this for some time.

Windsor Stakes 5.30

Probably the most difficult race of the day - 26 two year olds sprinting over 5 furlongs = equine madness.

Since the new course was opened there have been suggestions of a high draw being favourable. The last two winners have come from stall 15 and most placed horses have had double figure draws. Missile Dodgerncomes from a stable in form and has shown good speed on quick ground. What's more, he travels up with the lead which is a must for this race. 33-1 is good value but try and get a bookies doing the first 4 - Paddy Power might be the place. Most horses who win this go on to achieve very little so there's little point looking for future stars from the big stables.

Dabbers Chief has a chance at 10-1.
