Just back after a long round about trip.

Hardly needs saying if you watched it, but what amazing fans. Choreographed or not that was an incredible show. Made it hard to watch the match. Mind you there were other reasons for that too.

Didn't find their support intimidating before, during or after. Although the second half whistling was up there with our Chelsea 2005 noise. Noise was amazing considering its a 32 k ground, with almost no roof. Was hard to watch the game at times, as their movements and the back and forth calling were so funny. And their main stand was on their feet and bouncing for good periods of the second half. Unforgettable place and the friendliest fans I have met.

Came back with a few nice black and white souvenirs.

Scally Bob is a gent too, by the way. But wobbly on his feet at times.

I watched it on RTE in Ireland and the commentators were saying that it was amazing how both sides interacted with each other. Is it true Reclaim The Kop are going to try something similar with in our stands ?

It was amazing. No idea what RTK are on to.

We were offered the opportunity to leave our section right up until about 5 minutes before the end. I think many had worked out they were staying there for some time. So a good few left, rather than get kept in longer. The besiktas fans on the right of us stayed in there in great numbers singing and generally bouncing. So after about 15 or 20 mins they started singing Liiiverpoool to us. Then watching us for our reaction, this went on about 6 times until we got the hint. So we sang back Besiiiktas and they applauded us. Went on a few more times and they still seemed to want more. So we launched into a depleted YNWA, they raised their scarves and sang along. They waved and applauded us again, then they went home. Think they would have gone earlier if we had sung back to them. A few hundred stayed to see our players arun around and they gave them a great reception.

On the warm down, I saw Alonsa acknowledge us. Maybe Lucas too if he was beside Xabi. But the rest ran past with their heads down.

Although Stevie seems to have got the message that what happened in Benfica after the game didn't go down well and spent soem time at the whistle applauding us.

They were trying to get us to join in with that after the match but all they got back was a quick burst of Besiktas. It's weird but at the time I couldn't quite get the tune but I've going round singing it for the last couple of days.

I thought it was going to turn a bit hairy when they had the minutes silence with the last post playing in the background just before the teams came out. Some of our crowd had just started singing and it took a few seconds for us to get on to it but we managed to stop before the Besiktas fans got too annoyed and I noticed that the topless lad at the front of the section next us who appeared to be their cheerleader turned and applauded us when the silence finished. Got my photograph taken about ten times outside the ground before the match and never felt in any danger at any time while we were there. Good trip, great fans, pity about the result.....
