Ned Sherrin RIP

The broadcaster, writer and director Ned Sherrin, who was famous for presenting the Radio 4 show Loose Ends, has died, his personal manager said tonight.

Sherrin, 76, died of cancer this afternoon at his home in Chelsea, south west London, surrounded by friends and with his doctor at his bedside, Deke Arlon said.

He said: "He died with a group of friends around him and his doctor was with him.

"He died peacefully in his bed at home, which had been made into a hospital facility to care for him because he asked to be cared for at home."

Sherrin was diagnosed with a throat disorder last year and his illness forced him to step down from presenting Loose Ends just before Christmas.
