tracking down a franchise / business owner

Is this possible? I have a mate who currently holds a position as a director (i.e he's got that status in lieu of pay and the fact he's been there since it started up) in an web development company.

 

Anyway, he's after a change of scenery given that every fecker graduating nowadays seems to design / develop websites, and that in a company of the size he's in he won't get trained / keep up with the latest skillz etc.

 

So he's been offered a partnership in a retail franchise by a former customer of his. It's obviously a big change and risk for my mate so he wants to check out their form. I wouldn't touch it personally but then again I've been in the same company since I graduated 11 years back.

 

Any idea on how to go about checking the franchise owner, their form, change of ownership, financial situation etc without Andy having to ask this guy directly? He doesn't want to get neck deep without offending the guywith the offer, or knowing what he'd get himself into. I know he could ask his mate for this directly but he wants to keep his eggs in the one basket for now, he's a thick c*** when it comes to finances and he wants to see what the option could prove to be.

 

He's asked me to do the finance side of things but I don't know where to start as google wasn't my friend
