Kahnee Posted September 12, 2007 Posted September 12, 2007 Anyone caught wind of this? Rumours of a Led Zeppelin reunion are gathering pace, even as Britain's most famous promoter told fans today not to respond to advertisements selling tickets to a comeback concert.Harvey Goldsmith, the man who alongside Bob Geldof was responsible for Live Aid, issued the unusual public statement after adverts appeared in the press over the weekend offering tickets for Led Zeppelin at the O2, a venue whose launch Mr Goldsmith was closely involved with. "There have been at least four events advertised which I suspect either don't exist or where no tickets are on sale or indeed dates finalised," Mr Goldsmith said. "These [promoters] are the very people whom our industry has spent over a year trying to convince the Department for Culture Media and Sport to instigate outlawing."By failing to deny the existence of the Zeppelin concerts altogether, however, Mr Goldsmith has added grist to a reunion rumour mill that has been spinning for months. Back in June, the band were said to have agreed to play a gig in memory of Atlantic Records founder Ahmet Ertegun, who died last year. The performance was never confirmed, however, and singer Robert Plant commented on the purported concert, "If there was one, then there wouldn't be enough doctors to support it." That hasn't stopped the speculation from mounting; some reports suggest that any 02 concert would indeed be a memorial for Ertegun. Led Zeppelin also have form in the reformation stakes, having played a handful of one-off gigs since the band split up following the death of drummer John Bonham in 1980. One of these was Live Aid, which makes Mr Goldsmith's involvement in the latest rumours all the more interesting. Fans of the rock legends might wish to keep their eyes on the 02 website. What is, or should never be?
