Surprised there isn't a thread on this yet.

Watched it last Thursday with friends. Apparently the Philippines & Canada are the only countries where the film isn't R-18 (it's R-13 over here), which I guess is understandable given the frequent violence and nudity, and of course, lesbian kiss.

I thought it looked spectacular. The cinematography was beautiful; excellent use of special effects and blue screen. Even if you're not familiar with the look and style of the graphic novel you can tell they really tried to recreate the original panels.

The acting wasn't particularly noteworthy, but then again it's not a film you watch for the acting. Rodrigo Santoro was the gayest Xerxes I have ever seen. Still can't reconcile him with whiny Paulo from 'Lost.' Michael Fassbender (Stelios, the guy who wanted to die a "beautiful death") was quite good - very intense, almost loopy.

I have never seen so many 6(+++)-packs in my entire life.

I liked how they used rock music instead of the usual wailing choirs as a background for the battle scenes.
