Installed parallels beta the other day, lets you run windows only applications in osx on your intel mac without booting into windows. its called the coherence mode and its impressive, but its still beta. the only thing it doesnt support yet is 3d direct hardware support, which should be in the next beta.

 

I don't play games, so far the only use i have for this is for streaming matches, as there's still no mac sopcast or similar, i've watched the last few games with sopcast or tvuplayer, no problems at all, everything just works as it would, no emulation, no performance hit. It's the only way I can watch the game from where I am, so it's really useful right now.

 

It's a lot less hassle than booting into xp using bootcamp, and theres no need for a big extra partition on your drive.

If you want to really geek out you can skin XP to make the windows look look like OSX, so you don't even notice when you're using a windows application.

 

it's amazing to see it working, but besides the streams, i have no other use for it, others may find it more useful.
