We were having a beer in the Oakie about 4.30 yesterday when one of the lads came legging in and said that a big gang of Arsenal had just ran down the road jumping on cars and the like singing 'we won the league on merseyside' etc. Apparently they were followed by a load of Reds as they headed for the ground. Another forum mentioned a gang singing 'sign on' outside the Kop about an hour before kick off - possibly the same bunch.

Gobsh*tes give normal Arsenal a bad name.

Anyone else hear or see anything going off?

aye. there were outside the centenary side. the policy rounded them up and took them down a side street. I nearly got ran over by a police horse until my mate shouted me to get out the way.

there were only a few to be honest 20 or so. they wouldnt have lasted long!!! good job the police got hold of them.

my mate saw a few of them down the kop end after the match and said they were being followed by a load of kopites just waiting for the right moment to pounce on them :)

Sorry to hear about that - in general I have a high opinion of Arsenal fans, they know their football more than most and are very fair-minded in general. When we pinched the FA Cup off them in Cardiff, having been outplayed for most of the match, they were very magnanimous in the pubs afterwards. They said we had taken our chances and they hadn't. :)

We were walking down from Oakfield Road and there was loads of noise and singing behind us. Firstly, we thought it was Liverpool fans starting early and they must have been walking at about the same pace as us as the noise kind of followed us. Anyway, as we got to the Kop and were about to go through the turnstiles, it became obvious they were cockney voices and loads of them and they were starting to give it the big one. A few lads ahead of us in the queue, old Road Enders like myself, turned away out of the line anticipating some knuckle as would have happened in the old days. Nostalgic stuff for a moment it was!

Handful followed them round towards the Main Stand, one who shouted 'get out the escort' was taken off by the bizzies and told to behave himself.

Not even handbags or the dirty looks brigade. Twenty lads sang a couple of songs as they were led round by half a dozen policehorses is all.
