Mick eyes Reds swoop

Wolves boss Mick McCarthy has confirmed that he is keen on signing on-loan Liverpool midfielder Darren Potter to a permanent deal next summer.

Potter will return to the starting line-up in his favoured central midfield role at QPR on Saturday after spending recent games on the subs bench because of the form of Karl Henry and Seyi Olofinjana.

Henry misses Saturday's game due to suspension.

McCarthy said: "Potts has been brilliant for us.

"He came in and played out of position and hasn't played recently but his attitude has been great and he has stayed very patient.

"Even after our last away game at Southend, when I told him I realised he must be disappointed, his response was, 'three points gaffer, that's all that matters'.

"That kind of attitude will get him a long way and yes I would still like to bring him in permanently. "Of course that all depends on what Liverpool think, and I doubt anything will happen in January. "It's probably something that we could let lie until the end of the season."
