s'true. They played at the Picturedrome in Holmfirth, home of Compo and cleggy or some such. Anyway, it was a real cinema with seats and that! There was a seat-less area in front of the stage but we found an upstairs balcony where we could watch them without being barged into by drunken Yorkshiremen.

So, what were they like? Nigel told a funny story about the other guitarist (not Neil, the other one) taking an overdose of Bisodol so that when they found his body, it would have its own chalkline. All in all, it was the poorest gig I've seen them play but I don't think the venue helped and there wasn't much audience response for them to feed off. Nevertheless, they are always excellent value and did some of their classics early on. This meant a less-than-great encore after doing, bizarrely, Status Quo's "Caroline". Had it been my first HMHB gig, I'd still be buzzing but having seen them before and seen them better, I'd have to give it a 7/10.

Nigel also did a new song which the others clearly didn't know. He told the other guitarist at one point, "this is where you'll be doing a solo."
