I like to hear that we're doing stuff like this:

THE TWO-MAN delegation from the 2004 (oops!) European champions, Liverpool F/C, who landed in Obuasi on Tuesday to asses facilities of AshantiGold Sporting Club and explore areas of possible cooperation, have said they are impressed about the facilities inspected so far, although they are yet to inspect all.

Mr. Cudjoe Fianoo, the Chief Executive Officer of AshantiGold, led the two, Stuart Gelling and Garem Evans, both coaches of the academy side of the English Premier League club to inspect the facilities.

They were taken round to the Len Clay sports stadium where they inspected the hostel facility of the AshGold academy, the club's secretariats, which house the CEO's and other staff offices, as well as a conference hall.

At the Ofori stadium where they watched the evening training session of the under 12, 14, and 17 side of the club, they also chatted with the coach of the senior side, David Duncan, and that of the Academy of AshantiGold, Evans Addotey.

They also inspected the ultra-modern hostel facility for the Academy side at the Ofori stadium where it has offices for the head coach and the youth development officer, a conference hall, executive room and a house master's hall. It was explained to them that the house master checked the movement of the students at the hostel.

Speaking to The Chronicle in an interview, Mr. Gelling said their visit was a follow-up to an earlier one by the Board Chairman and CEO of AshGold to Anfield, Messrs Dan Owiredu and Cudjoe Fianoo, who wanted to have a relationship with the Liverpool club.

"We were tasked by the CEO of Liverpool to come to Ghana to see if we can have some support for AshGold. We are here to meet the people and get a feel of the place," he said.

When asked whether they can assure supporters of AshGold of Liverpool's support, coach Gelling said, "The decision will be taken by the management of the club (Liverpool) as we have just been tasked to observe the facilities and take a report back".

CEO of AshGold Mr. Fianoo explained why they had travelled to Anfield, saying, "When you look at Liverpool, in the past they were the conquerors of Europe and England, and somewhere along the line, they've rejuvenated the club and are one of the biggest clubs now. So we decided to find out the secret that catapulted them from where they were to the height that are enjoying now".

Linking AshGold to Liverpool, the CEO said, "In the past when we talked about Ghana football, it was AshGold. But nobody knows what happened; now we are only counted among the 16 premier clubs in the country.

"At times, we have to fight to avoid relegation. So we think with the experience of Liverpool, we can also bounce back."

Meanwhile, AshGold and Feyenoord Academy are expected to play a friendly today at the Len Clay Stadium, and the two coaches from Liverpool should be in attendance.

Executives and supporters of the club, who were clad in their usual yellow and black shirt with red and white bands to match, met the two Liverpool coaches, on arrival.

Wasn't there something about this before? Think the same site had the best match report ever. It just went on about how the mighty AshGold honourable and rightly destroyed their cowardly opponents, and so on.

Story? Fact? Bloody hope so. This is what Liverpool fc lives for, finding winners from every corner of the globe (not that a globe is a corner, but you know what I mean).

I just read on the interweb someplace else that there's suspicion surrounding Feyenoord's academy friendly with this Ghanain team and a link to Kuyt.

Its a front, for something far more sinister. I'm not sure what but my sources tell me that Rick Parry has been scouring the globe for ancient relics that may harbour great powers.
