Echo http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/liverpool-f...00252-22353631/ Fresh injury fear for Fernando Torres - Liverpool FC latest Nov 27 2008 by Tony Barrett, Liverpool Echo Fernando Torres Fernando Torres 160 LIVERPOOL were today sweating on the fitness of Fernando Torres and Fabio Aurelio after both suffered injury scares in last night’s 1-0 over Marseille. Torres reported tightness in his hamstring straight after the game and was being assessed at Melwood this morning before a diagnosis can be made by Liverpool’s medical staff. The Reds record signing has been plagued by hamstring problems over the last 12 months and Rafa Benitez will be hoping Torres is not about to face another spell on the sidelines. In his most recent lay-off, Torres was forced to miss six Liverpool games after sustaining his third hamstring injury while on international duty with Spain. Benitez has since held discussions with the Spanish FA about taking measures to stop the problem flaring up and the Reds boss will be concerned that after returning to action less than three weeks ago the 24-year-old has again suffered hamstring discomfort. Torres was able to complete the 90 minutes against Marseille, but team mate Aurelio was forced off at half time with a recurrence of a calf injury. The Brazilian left back was replaced by Andrea Dossena after the ongoing problem flared up again during the first half. Aurelio was today undergoing a scan to assess the extent of the damage. but is hopeful that it is not too serious. He told the ECHO: “I have a problem with my calf, I felt it during the first half so it was better that I came off. “I will now have a scan to see what the gravity of the injury is.”

That Kennedy moment Kopite Offline Posts: 755 They don't do things by half this lot United's Moscow singsong - update « on: Today at 02:04:57 PM » -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mods, I see the original post about "Oliver Kay responds" has been locked, which is fair enough. Feel free to lock this one straightaway. But I think it's worth posting this. Yesterday I emailed a contact, a sports reporter on a national daily, to ask if s/he had heard the reports about Utd's players singing that song, and if so, why it wasn't a major story in May. S/he said they'd look into it, and got back to me today: "all the suggestions are that they did sing it, but it's very hard to prove and United's lawyers would be all over it". Can't reveal the contact, but it's a good one.

Ain't too bothered. As Chelsea found out, anybody can throw large amounts of cash at players, and putting in silly bids, it's a different kettle of fish actually getting the player to join. For all Chelsea's money, they haven't really got a big named player. QPR are the most cash rich club on paper, but they'll never in a million years get Kaka.

VORONIN SIGNS LOAN DEAL AT HERTHA BERLIN Paul Eaton 01 September 2008 Andriy Voronin has today agreed a one year loan deal with German side Hertha Berlin. The Ukrainian international joined the Reds twelve months ago and has netted six goals in his 27 appearances for the club. Voronin has so far failed to establish himself as a first choice regular on Merseyside and has taken up the opportunity of spending the next season in the Bundesliga.

Yesterday's trading: Amanda eyes £1.1bn Trillium Geoff Foster, Daily Mail 28 August 2008, 7:37am Glamourous former Businesswoman of the Year Amanda Staveley, who once dated the Duke of York, could soon be hitting the City's headlines. It is believed that her PCP Capital Partners consortium, which is backed by Qatari cash, is on the verge of splashing out £1.1bn on Trillium, the facilities management business of Land Securities. Shares of the largest property company in Europe closed 26p off at 1290p but would be back on fund managers' buy lists if a sale is confirmed. Land Securities in November announced radical plans for a three-way break-up of the group. It anticipated that the complex separation of its Trillium, retail and London offices units would take a year to execute and would obviously depend upon market conditions. Analysts said at the time that a demerger of Trillium was a no-brainer because its value was not being recognised by the stock market but the board must have also concluded that there is no reason why London offices and shopping centres made a natural fit either. Number-crunchers have said that as a separate entity, Trillium could have a market capitalisation of between £750m and £1bn, so should Staveley & Co table a successful £1.1bn offer, it would be deemed a bullish deal for Land Securities. Staveley's PCP Partners is also Sheik Maktoum's adviser on his known interest in acquiring Liverpool Football Club, which last night faced a tricky European Champions League qualifier against Belgium's Standard Liege. Co-owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett face an onerous task of balancing the books and failure to progress in the Champions League would be a financial disaster. Rumours suggest that plans to build a new stadium have already been shelved. http://www.thisismoney.co.uk/investing-and...p;in_page_id=23

I know this is my first post so discount it if you like and I'll take no offence. I've just joined up to tell you guys the news first. Source? from the very top. It'll be in tonight's papers anyway, so feel free to shoot me down as I know you'll apologise afterwards. Report to moderator Logged
