Just wondering if this is one reason why we didn't disclose how much we got for Nunez.

I don't remember anyone from Liverpool actually saying to the media that we wouldn't pay more than we received.

Can't see them going for anything less than £10m. Still, if true, at least the endgame has begun. Wonder if there will be a Basombe update today.

Not sure that we've actually made a bid have we? It was only what that one guy posted on here. That said, now's about the time I'd expect us to make our first move.

Paul McCarthy (The People) on SSN seems to think he's coming to Liverpool.

Mate, if we want to sign him, at some point we're going to have to make it clear we want him! Anyway, I think Owen knows we want him and I think he has done for some time.

Yeah that's a good point. I'm hoping I can rediscover mine on Thursday.

They said they'd given permission for Owen to discuss a move and Owen also said that the club would try to arrange his first choice move. God I hope this comes off. I do wonder if YNWA know something they aren't saying? They were obviously the first with the news that Owen was off and RP's gone very quiet!

I'm sure that the timing of the bid has been 100 percent down to Rafa.

Well at least we've formally made a bid now. A statement from Rafa saying he wants Michael couldn't hurt now and would put the ball back in Owen's court.

Then surely we can make something happen??

Or maybe that Newcastle's bid has pushed up the price to a level we can't afford even though we want him and that therefore, whilst he's desperate to come home, he feels he has to take the only alternative offer as he wants to assure his England place in World Cup year and his pregenant wife is desperate to move home immediately.

Sky say that the Newcastle board remain confident of signing Michael Owen before Wednesday. God I hate even hearing that. Hope Elisha comes up with some good news!

If he agrees to go there, I'd have thought he'd insist on a clause saying he can leave for a decent amount.

So, do we actually want United to beat Newcastle today? A morale boosting win for the Geordies would really give Souness something to point Owen towards as a sign of things to come. A nice crushing defeat could really enforcve Owen's beliefs that its not the right place to go. I'm sure Owen is far too professional to allow the result of one game to seriously affect his decision but, at the moment, I'll take anything that swings things in our favour. Still, its hard to want United to win...

Mate they will still owe Newcastle money for Woodgate.

Its what WILL happen? Are you saying he is signing for Newcastle or that he will sign for them if he doesn't come to us?

So, when do you reckon we'll hear something official regarding a bid?

What makes you think Cisse is being forced out "on un football relalted issues". If Cisse is indeed being sold, I would have thought it was for football reasons alone.

You're our very own Mr Scoop aren't you CarraLegend? Always the first with the stories!

What's happened to the neighbourhood?

No one wants him any more...

Would be a complete nightmare if it fell through now.
