Shoot me down if this is stupid, but seeing as there were about 40,000 reds in Istanbul it seems fair to say that most of them will have a few spare Lira (or million Lira) knocking about. Could the HJC start a collection of Turkish currency which they can then exchange for sterling and put towards the fight for justice? I personally have a 20 Lira note in my pocket doing nothing. I appreciate that there may be a lot of people who have just a few coins - which the banks wouldn't normally change - but if a decent amount was collected I'm sure they would exchange it, as they have for other charities.
