Think Pennant can do a job for us on the right and we have Gerrard who was fantastic from there last year but it still leaves us short for cover at right back, also makes the 3-5-2 formation less likely in which Alves would of been ideal.

Agreed, don't think he has a strong enough "mentality" for Rafa, I'm sure he'll do well at Newcastle but as far as I'm concerned his performances for Chelsea suggest he's a good top 6 team player not a top 2 team player which is where I expect to see us at the end of the season.

Duff has no choice...stay at Chelsea and play occasionally or move to Newcastle for a wedge...he'll be injured soon, that clubs jinxed!!

Chelsea don't want to sell Duff to LFC and therefore tell Newcastle they can have him for a cut price losing out on about 5m, NFC pay Duff sky high wages or a massive signing on fee to persuade him to join with the money they saved on the transfer fee
