What Ferguson did in mid nineties with the five young kids in one cohort is outsanding achievement. It is also a freakish result taking into consideration the law of averages. Thus I don't think it can be repeated again. Since then Arsene Wenger has done better than all the rest of top 4 in spotting talent, bringing them in young and developing them into good (not just competent) first team players. Long list of examples stretching back to Henry, Vieira and more recently Fabregas, Clichy, Toure.... and not all of them are bought at a king's ransom as many here seem to dismiss as. This is imo no mean task. Particularly bearing in mind some of our own youngsters who at the time they were bought, came highly rated (pongolle, le tallec golden boot and MVP youth world cup) but, as it turns out, none we would really want in our first 11. In gist, the press is merely acknowleging the fact he has done much better than the rest of us in bringing young players through since ferguson did in mid-nineties. Again something that I happen to agree. Why we should find it so difficult to acknowledge other people's achievement is baffling to me but you are intitled to your opinion.
