  1. If you think that there is no connection between the finances of Liverpool FC and Boston Red Sox, than you are very naive.
  2. We are probably budgeting for a fiscal year (April 1st to March 31st).
  3. http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2011/oct/13/liverpool-overpaid-john-w-henry
  4. Than again, maybe the Meireles and the N'gog money has gone on balancing the books.
  5. Not very surprised, to be honest. Henry was very clear in saying that we will spend only what we earn, and without the Champions League money, we have probably already spent our transfer budget for this season. It's a shame that most of that budget has gone on over-rated and overpriced domestic players, but that is our reality. I still hope that Comolli will start to earn his wages, and will find a couple of Mascherano-type loan deals in the next week.
  6. It's a shame that probably no significant money will be spend in this transfer window. Considering the inconsistent form of Chelsea and Arsenal, we could probably still sneak in the top 4, if we address our weaknesses.
  7. Nah, we will sign some youngsters. Hopefully, some loan deals for first team players could also be arranged.
  8. Nicolas Anelka (loan) Milan Baros Fernando Morientes Jan Kromkamp Daniel Agger Robbie Fowler (loan) Alvaro Arbeloa Javier Mascherano (loan) Martin Skrtel Maxi Rodriguez Luis Suarez Andy Carroll The first-team January signings that we have made over the past decade.
  9. We've never heard of that grape again. What happened ?
  10. Well, my banana is big, but not that big.
  11. You are mentioning bananas much too often. Do you want to peel my banana ?
  12. Talking about Uruguayans, I wouldn't mind Nicolas Lodeiro on the cheap. He wasn't really a stunning success at Ajax, but he is still only 22, and out of contract in the summer.
  13. Carroll and Henderson might still come good, since they are young. Downing might regain his form, once he resolves whatever is bothering him. Adam is hopeless.
  14. Downing is on £75,000 per week. Suarez is on £80,000 per week.
  15. Actually, something is not right in the state of Liverpool. After spending £35 million on Carroll, £20 million on Downing, £16 million on Henderson and £7 million (the biggest waste of all) on Adam, we are still sitting comfortably at the 7th place. Not to mention the dreadful fact that under Roy we have been scoring 1.20 goals per game in the league. This season, we have been scoring 1.14 goals per game in the league.
  16. Personally, I would't have any problem with that, if he wasn't piss poor on the pitch. Something is obviously bothering him. It is either his off-the-field issues, or our manager simply doesn't know how to use him.
  17. Things like what ? Am I lying that one of our players, who is heavily under-performing on the pitch, has been arrested on suspicion of assaulting his ex-girlfriend ?
  18. Why ? Because I speak openly about the off-the-field problems of our players ?
  19. Considering his level of performance and his overall attitude on the pitch lately, I think that there is much more than one incident.
  20. http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/liverpool-fc/liverpool-fc-news/2012/01/08/liverpool-fc-s-stewart-downing-arrested-on-suspicion-of-assault-100252-30082357/ It seems that his private life is a mess. Who would have though ?
  21. Yes, it has changed. At the time when I've posted that, I wasn't aware of Downing's off-the-field problems. Poulsen was even cheaper. Considering that Adam is on £40,000+ per week now, I doubt that there will be many takers. I am more interested in the difference in terms of silverware, to be honest.
  22. Because he is not good enough. Physically limited, with a total lack of a footballing brain.
