Just got up, had me coffee and toast, first thing I thought of when opening my eyes - we lost last night.
It feels worse than a normal loss. Obviously we'd been used to winning and that hurts, but we didn't just lose playing well, we were sh*te.
I'm not sure how you critique our tactics or the way we set up as a team when most of the team were so dreadful. Or were the tactics and team equally awful? Have a feeling it's the latter.
So the individuals.
Ali - fantastic. Prevented a truely embarrassing scoreline
Konate - 'Flakey' is being kind to him. Every so often, more often than a player of his stature should, Konate has a bad match and this was one of them.
Virgil - Even the ultra reliable Virg ' didn't have the greatest of games. At one point in the first half he passed out to Soboz' who was immediately surrounded by three of their players. It was a badly chosen pass and a real lax moment which had us immediately under pressure.
The Full Backs - Arne himself has said all he has to say about Frimpong, needless to say he didn't impress the manager or anyone else. Both full backs looked a class below what we're used to and it's no surprise we look better when Dom takes on the right back role.
Midfield - Macca looked isolated for most of the game and never really contributed at all in defence or attack. He's a shadow of the player he was last season and the sooner he gets back to full fitness the better for everyone. Dom tried and tried but like everyone else, passes went astray and nothing seemed to come off, until the second half where from full back he started looking good again.
Attackers - Salah. I can't really add to what's already been written here. He's using up all the huge credit he has with every game, but he still has a long way to go before he's benched. Isak. After a stoppy-starty season, he also has some credit in the bank and has shown glimpses - only glimpses mind' - of what a fully fit and firing Isak can do. Wirtz. So much was expected and so little we've seen of that player in the wonderful youtube reels. We can't keep playing him hoping he'll come into form, he's not only stinking the place out, he's unbalancing the entire midfield.
Subs. - Jones. The only thing consistent about his consistency is his lack of it. Gakkers. Did well, maybe should've come on earlier for the ineffectual Wirtz. Chiesa. Worked hard, got his goal, what more can you ask. Class player him and he's finally started to show it regularly, luv Freddy Church.
Anyhoo, that's all I've got for today.
