Microsoft Project - is it worth having?

I'm hoping it would be a platform on which to store and manage data related to various projects, much of which would be shared.  Essentially I'm looking to better organise my sh*t so I can spend more time forum-spamming and pillow-staring.

 

At the minute I've a sh*tload of spreadsheets and Word documents on shared drives.

Its ideal for what you have said you want to do - almost a perfect fit for those requirements. Its also pretty good for doing cost estimations and resource tracking if you keep it well updated.
