this article actually makes a lot of sense. MAke the group stage relevant by seeding placed on league placement and use the co-efficient to rank the country only.

 

Then the mancs would be first, then us in second seed, chelsea as 3rd and arsenal as 4th. Its ridiculous to have german and english champions in the same group stage, with the german champions in as 4th seed.

Agree that it will be more unlikely to face the same team year in and year out in the group stage. But on the other hand it would do nothing about the inequalities between teams; it will still be as easy, if not easier for the big clubs to go through to next round.
