Back entry diddler Posted October 28, 2008 Posted October 28, 2008 Saw this channel when I was in South Africa recently and enjoyed it. Seems we get Setanta but no LFC tv on Foxtel. Any Aussies know if there is an alternative or is it just LFCtv on broadband thro computer with buffering ?

Thsi is from the www.lfcdownunder.com.au site From SETANTA But at the moment we've pretty much got Chelsea TV until the end of the agreement which is at least one more season. I'm not sure whats going to happen with it next season though as rules can change, but because we've been working on the Foxtel Launch, we haven't actually looked into what we're going to do for next season re: Chelsea TV and Liverpool TV. We know there's alot of Liverpool fans out there who would love to have it, and thus yes, it would be a drawcard to getting more subs, but we really have nothing confirmed as yet. Obviously we're trying not to have a bias between teams, so we're trying to stay as neutral as possible right now though and look at the legal restrictions and agreements in place. Back entry diddler Posted October 28, 2008 Author Posted October 28, 2008 Thanks for that. Sounds a bit more promising than what I was told by operator so I pointed out that we had won more championships and European cups than Man U for her to use as feedback.
growler Posted October 29, 2008 Posted October 29, 2008 I asked Setanta last season, they said: Thanks for your feedback regarding LFC TV. FA Premier League rules state you can only licence 2 club channels per territory (Australia). We signed deals with MUTV and Chelsea TV before Liverpool TV launched so therefore we will be unable to broadcast another club channel at the moment. We will review our club channel situation in the near future and your feedback and the feedback of hundreds of Liverpool fans who have contacted us will be taken into account, so things may change, but for now, unfortunately Liverpool TV will not be available on Setanta Australia. --so I said: Also, having spoken to other Liverpool fans in Ireland, you can get Setanta and they show Chelsea, Man Utd and Liverpool club channels, so not sure about the premier league rules. ---so they responded: May not have been clear with the explanation - FA Premier League rules state you can only licence 2 club channels per territory – by “you” we refer to a specific channel, such as Setanta, or FoxSports, or Sky, or ESPN. In the UK and Ireland – Setanta Sports has Arsenal TV and Liverpool TV, and Sky Sports has MUTV and Chelsea TV – thus it is perfectly possible for your friends to have access to all of these channels. Setanta Sports Australia had signed deals with MUTV and Chelsea TV two seasons ago – well before Arsenal and Liverpool TV were launched this year – Setanta UK did not have these the Chelsea and Man Utd club channels due to Sky Sports holding the rights to these channels, thus they were able to pick up Arsenal and Liverpool TV over there.
Back entry diddler Posted October 29, 2008 Author Posted October 29, 2008 Thanks Growler seems like there is hope anyway.
downunder Posted October 29, 2008 Posted October 29, 2008 I know someone at Setanta, and they told me today are going to drop Chelsea as soon as the contract expires. He wasn't sure if it expires the end of this season or next though.
Back entry diddler Posted October 29, 2008 Author Posted October 29, 2008 Would make sense in view of their low appeal ratings as long as they dont pick Arsenal to replace them.
