the transfer window opened on july the 1st , since then kewell has left the club { £65,000/week } , we have sold riise for £4m , crouch for £11m , guthrie has gone to newcastle for £2m . itandje is heading for galatasary for approx £3m , carson is in talks with stoke in a deal costing approx £4m , pennant is wanted by blackburn to replace bently the price being suggested is approx £5m .

we have brought degen in on a free transfer , we have bought dossena for £7.5m , cavaleri for £3m .

we are in talks with villa about barry , we are in talks about keane , both clubs want in the region on £20m .

we have enquired about a number of wingers ranging from milner , bentley , downing , silva , riera , arango , im sure theres a cpl ive forgot about . depending on who we go for , the cost could range between £10m to £18m .

the transfer window has been open for little over 2 weeks , i think there has been alot of business completed so far . this isnt a computer game where everything gets done within the space of two days , the real world just dosent work like that . some clubs will be willing to do business , others , quite simply will fight tooth and nail to keep their best players ie: villa and spurs .

i know that barry and keane are two of rafa's top choices but the prices being quoted are most def on the inflated side , there are massive amounts of supporters who look at the fees and say , no dont buy them , they just arent worth the figures being mentioned , on the other hand you have supporters who say , i dont care how much the price is inflated , just go and pay them what they want to get the players .

guys , at the end of the day , this is a business too . the amount of money you outlay can and should influence the standard of play and your returns at the end of the season , but it doesnt always work like that . also because this is a business and not a computer game , there are limits to most clubs transfer dealings . some clubs buy a few players at smaller fees , the odd one buys a individual player at a massive fee .

we needed a keeper , two attacking full backs , a quality winger , a quality forward who can play as a wider player of a front three , on top of that rafa wants to replace alonso with barry , the reasons for this have been talked to death and everyone knows why .

there is going to be an awful lot of money outlayed this summer , some of which will be ofset by the player sales .

supporters need to be realistic and show some perspecticive when talking about this time of year .

I think our business has been excellent so far. To get through so much in a few weeks is top notch, particularly on the selling side. Riise, Crouch, Carson, Itandje all had to go and it looks like we'll get decent fees for all of them.

Dossena and Degen have been brought in and we needed players in those positions. The squad has arguably improved already on last season's.

Barry is taking time but not unreasonable time when you remember that Villa really want to keep him. For a fee of around £15m it will be a fair deal, we may have to pay a little more but i'm happy with signing Barry as we lack left footed players and he's a good player.

If the reports of Rafa having £20m plus player sales are true then there are a couple more quality players yet to arrive.
