Visiting Barcelona

Going to Barca with my girlfriend for 4 days just after the new year.

 

Anything I should make a point of doing/seeing?

 

Also, we're staying in Hotel Barcelona Universal. Starting to worry myself as it's apparently it an area of the city called La Ravel which i've read is "a little run down".

 

My girlfriend booked it all as a surprise for my birthday, so my researching skills weren't employed!
