Sat nav advice

Thinking of getting him indoors a sat nav for his birthday. Willing to go to £100ish for an entry level version and have seen this Myguide 3100

 

It gets loads of great reviews and seems to be hackable to add in extra software/maps but I am always a little wary of fecking the thing up. The loaded maps are not the most recent tho - 2-3 years old.

 

Anyone got one or can recommend something similar?
