knee surgeons in North West

Has anyone any experience of knee surgery - in particular cruciate ligament injury repair in North West region. I have to arrange a consultation and with the NHS choose and book system I can more or less choose anywhere. My doc mentioned clinics in Manc, Trafford and Wigan. I have a longstanding knee injury that really needs sorting - and if I can do it free on the NHS then why not - (only MRSA and c-difficile worries ;) )
