Atmosphere at European Games

Recommended Posts

Just watched the Sevilla game. The atmosphere was excellent as it was in the San Siro last night and at Anfield on Tuesday. Is the atmosphere at big European games becoming better or have the TV companies just worked out better techniques for recording crowd noise?

My opinion is that it is and a lot of that can be traced to the atmosphere at Liverpool games. Thoughts?

Certainly seen more comments from managers and players in the media recently about the impact the crowd can have on the outcome of the game.

I don't recall that many managers in the past talking about the importance of having the fans behind them to help them win/intimidate the opposition. These comments have come from Managers/Players involved in relegation games as well as European games.

As to why , I think it's because the fans are quieter than in previous years, so Managers etc try to encourage the "Kop effect" to give their team an advantage because any sustained kind of noise is unusual at many grounds.

I've got mates who are West Brom fans and they were amazed at how quiet some grounds were when they came up to the Premiership a few years back.
