MS Word help

I'm working on a big document which contains a mixture of English and German I'm supposed to 'standardize' it so that it contains only English and then can be used as a basis for translation into vaious other languages.

 

My problem is this: it wants to do a German spelling check and obviously most English words are reported as spelling mistakes in German. Various sections of the document seem to have been marked (somehow) as English and the spelling checker checks those sections in English, but as I work on the document the German spelling check continually seems to reappear. How can I somehow change ALL sections of the document so that they are spell-checked in English?

 

I've tried the obvious two approaches:

 

1) Select All, Check spelling, change dictionary to English

2) Reinstall Java (I actually HAVE done this, but for a different reason)

 

Any suggestions?
